Milen Day Centre (MDC) has been in existence since March 1988 and caters for the welfare needs of Asian elders in Batley. Over the years, MDC has continued to develop its services and has made significant progress in raising awareness of the needs of the Asian elderly. At MDC our priority is to provide a range of quality services for Asian elders.
Objectives
- To provide social contact for frail, housebound, isolated older people living in their homes, which improves their quality of life and provides relief and support for their carers
- To raise awareness of the needs of the Asian elderly
- To provide a range of quality services for the Asian elderly
- To provide assistance, general advice and support to the elderly
- To organise events and activities that involve and present positive images of elderly men and women.
- To undertake outreach work to provide assistance to the isolated, infirm and disabled elderly
- To organise partnership campaigns relating to health issues
- To make links with appropriate voluntary and statutory agencies and to work with them towards maintaining the independence of the elderly in the community.
- To liase with Social Services, Health Services and other Agencies to advocate the provision of culturally sensitive services for the Asian elderly
